Good things take time...

This quote I found basically sums up what I have experienced and learned about myself this month:

“Good things take time, as they should. We shouldn't expect good things to happen overnight. Actually, getting something too easily or too soon can cheapen the outcome.” - John Wooden

Things take time. They may also require a certain level of effort, skill and action but the most important thing they need is time - and sometimes a little space. Especially if you want them done well.

You would think living in isolation, with no where to go, that I would have all the time in the world - and to some extent that's been true.

As someone who was already working from home most days of the week, even I am saving at least a couple of  hours a day that I would normally spend commuting to and from work, uni and yoga classes - whether that be walking or via public transport/ Ubers.

With our work/ leisure days or hours now blurring into one another though, it can be even harder to find a balance and quality time for the things we need and want to do...

So, somehow - I've ended up with too much on my plate and not enough time to do it all! While l know that learning to say No  is something I need to get better at - that is only part of my 'problem'.

You see, I think I move a little slower than other people. I've never been great at brainstorming or pulling ideas quickly out of thin air. I will usually get a lightbulb moment a day or two, or even a week later. Sometimes the ideas unfold as I am writing!

I also like to think about things carefully and thoroughly. And while I believe deadlines are important and good to have - I don't respond well to pressure. Especially when it comes to creative work - like writing!

The simple truth is - to do what I do, and be who I am, I can only move so fast without impacting my mental and physical health. That means, going at my own pace and allowing enough space in my day for some me-time and for the people I care about...

After all, has this pandemic not been a reminder that work and money are NOT the most important things?!

Join me on the mat (online) in June to take some time for yourself too...

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
